An Irish gentleman hare in a green Victorian suit stands in a misty hedgerow in this St Patrick's Day art print, dressed for the occasion in a moss-green frock coat and matching top hat, gold waistcoat, bow tie, a sprig of green in his buttonhole and a watch chain at his cuff. He has come out of the ditch, brushed himself down, and stationed himself in the middle of the meadow with his hand in his pocket, waiting for someone to comment on the tailoring.

"The Hedgerow Gentleman" is the title of this piece, and the joke lives in his composure. The palette is all green: moss, olive and pale sage through the mist, warmed by the tan of his fur and the old gold of his waistcoat, painted in a soft romantic oil style with the hedge dissolving into fog behind him. It is a March picture and it wears its Irish colours plainly, but it is not a novelty. It hangs in a hallway, an entryway or a snug for the rest of the year without ever looking like leftover decorations.

These tools help me achieve a higher level of detail and polish.
