6 handmade wooden cardinal sewing buttons. These are made from a sheet of natural wood. I have added the design and cut out the buttons myself. These buttons are not available from anyone else. They are sure to add a special touch to your handmade items.

These have an engraved image of a beautiful cardinal on a branch on them. The image is burned or engraved right into the natural wood.


How they are made:

These buttons start out as a flat sheet of 1/8" or 3 mm thick natural wood. Once the design has been determined I then manipulate it so that it can be engraved. Some of the design is engraved darker and some lighter. Once the image and holes have been added the wooden buttons are covered in an artists grade resin. This makes the buttons glossy but also durable. The wood is left it's natural colour. They can be washed in the washing machine and thrown in the dryer.

The top of the buttons is coated with a glossy resin. This makes the buttons more durable.
These are machine washable and dryer safe.

These buttons are part of my primitive series of artisan buttons. They are each little pieces of art.
