Just look at these adorable stopper less salt shakers! They are so unique and fun! I have seen them referred to as "Secret Shakers." They were wheel thrown by me at my home in Southern Arizona. I used a white stoneware clay.
Each shaker can hold salt, pepper, or seasonings. The engineering of this vessel allows for the shaker to work without a stopper. It's a two-cone design where the salt, or other seasoning, is trapped between the cones until the shaker is....well....shook. The diagram image will show better how they work. These make lovely gifts as well.

To fill the shaker just pour salt in the bottom and swirl the shaker around until the salt goes in.
Each shaker can hold different amounts of salt depending on the size of the shaker.

Each of my pieces can have slight variations in size and color due to the handmade process and glaze combinations. This makes each of them one of a kind but sometimes similar enough to coordinate with other pieces of like color and style. These are glazed with lead free and nontoxic glazes. They are food safe. I would not recommend putting these pieces in the microwave or in the dishwasher.
