What's the story behind Torched Peaks?

Our artists are the pioneers of wooden ski trail maps, bringing a fresh, 3D twist to the classic ski map. The original concept for the first 3d wooden ski map was the brainchild of our founder, who came up with the idea and initial sketches all the way back in 2015. ABOUT US. We're a small team of dedicated skiers and snowboarders committed to creating art that's as unique as the mountains themselves. Over the years, we have proudly supplied our maps to ski areas, professional athletes, retailers, and passionate skiers and snowboarders across N. America.

How are Torched Peaks maps different from other ski maps on Etsy?

WOODEN LAYERS. Each map is crafted with 6-10 layers of wood, producing a stunning, multidimensional effect. Our distinctive 'layered' design adds depth and texture, transforming every map into a conversation piece that you can cherish for a lifetime. INTRICATE DETAILS. Peak by peak, trail by trail, we carefully craft each map to be hyper-detailed, highlighting the unique character of every ski resort. In addition to trail names and difficulty ratings, we include icons for wildlife, popular trails, tree runs, ski-racing trails, terrain parks, and landmarks. We pour character and charm into every map, ensuring they embrace the true spirit of the mountain.

How are your ski trail maps designed?

Every map is carefully designed with great attention to detail, involving in-depth analysis of photographs, satellite imagery, and a variety of maps. Influenced by lifelong skiers and snowboarders, each design incorporates local insights and character, making every map unique. The design process is led by our lead map artist, a former professional snowboarder and early snowboard pioneer from New Jersey. With over a decade of experience working in the ski industry designing actual trails, his experience in ski trail design, paired with a background in graphic design, fuses mapmaking with artistic vision.

Where are your maps made?

All maps are designed on the East Shore of Lake Tahoe and are 100% made in the USA. Surrounded by some of the most iconic ski resorts in the USA, our basecamp fuels our inspiration to create art that’s as unique as the mountains themselves.
