Suitable for Syrian Hamsters!
The “Junior” version of our food mix is intended for hamsters under 6 months old; the “Senior” version of our food mix is for hamsters over 6 months old.
Our food mixes are a properly calculated formula mixture of over 40 ingredients of seeds, grains, legumes, herbs, vegetables, and insects, that are catered to each specific hamster subspecies. It does NOT contain any preservatives, artificial colors, added sugars, added salts, or any unnatural substances - most ingredients in our food mixes are organic! The reason we do not include fruits is because they contain high amounts of sugar, which is not suitable for hamsters because they are prone to diabetes. All of our seed mixes are calculated with scientific research as our basis and are modeled after the exorbitant hamster care standards in Europe.
⚠️ We emphasize that there are no added fillers like pellets in our food mix, as most pet stores carry commercial brands that contain hay pellets mixed in with their seed mixes that do not carry any nutritional value—rather, they act as “fillers” to make it seem as if there is a lot of food. Our food mixes meet the primary nutrients that a hamster needs, but it does not account for micronutrients. In this case, it is strongly suggested to have high-quality commercial lab blocks like Mazuri Rat & Mouse available at all times. We are not held accountable for any nutritional deficiencies. 🍴Feeding Guidelines: An average Syrian Hamster eats about 1 tablespoon a day, which is equivalent to about ~15 grams of food. Hamsters have relatively slow metabolism compared to other animals, so do not overfeed your hamster by making sure all the given food has already been eaten before giving more. When feeding your hamster, it is important to encourage “foraging” behaviors by sprinkling food around their enclosure. Unlike most other animals, hamsters do not need to transition to eating new food mixes. They are able to adapt quickly to any new diets and incorporation of new food!
Fresh vegetables and forage (we sell a flower forage mix linked below) should be provided on a consistent basis (every other day). To learn more about what vegetables and treats are suitable for your hamster, refer to this list: https://ontariohamsters.ca/education/Food-safety.html
