Here is a stunning, unique collection of sea glass rarities from Seaham (and a few from our beaches in Scotland) in a rare rainbow of hues.
The majority of these bright colourful sea glass shards were collected during holidays in Seaham, England, over many years. We wandered many a beach in this area, which is famous for its ‘end of day’ sea glass from the Victorian era (producing some of the finest sea glass in the world). We live about 200 miles away but try and visit several times a year.
I have displayed this beautiful rainbow in a gorgeous handmade miniature printer's Letterpress Tray, lovingly created by an artist in Bologna, Italy, before being shipped to Scotland. She specialises in making beautiful facsimiles of Victorian furniture for doll's houses, and each piece is one of a kind. It is made from oak and has a small metal handle.
This is her gorgeous shop: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/cinen
They make the perfect display case for coveting the most special sea glass rarities.
Miniature in one inch / 1:12th scale
Dimensions: cm 6.2x3.6x0.7
The pieces are as found - I do not glue them into the trays. I rub them with a little mineral oil to show off their hues, easily removed with warm soapy water for the more frosted look.
Seaham sea glass really is in steep decline these days, partly due to their age (they're only getting smaller the longer the stay in the sea), and partly due to the rise in popularity as collector’s items - more folk are now picking them up. They really are a rarity and worth adding them to your sea glass collection whilst they're still available.
The shards are in great condition with only the smallest of expected nibbles following their adventures in the sea.
The collection is very tactile and beautiful in natural light.
This would make great display piece or unique gift for the lover of sea glass!
Each piece is one of a kind.
My pieces come as found- I do not do anything to them other than give them a gentle rinse in mild soapy water.
These are the actual pieces you will receive, packaged carefully.
Please look at the 5 pence piece for sizing guidance. It measures the same as the US dime in diameter - 18mm/0.7inch.
Many thanks.
