This series is very dear to my heart because it's the product of my recent travels to a lovely exotic island called St. Lucia in the Caribbean. What you will see in this series is some St. Lucia landscape, fancy vibrant colorful clothing and music of course, but it's so much more than that. The housewives series in its essence is inspired by the first female figure in history - Kybele . Kybele was the ancient Phrygian Mother of the Gods, a primal nature goddess worshipped with orgiastic rites in the mountains of central and Western Anatolia. The Greeks identified her as The Titans Rhea.
In other words Kybele is one of the first embodiment of a woman we encounter in history. You can see the name of the goddess changing in different tribes and communities throughout history but the essence and meaning the female goddess holds under this figure hasn't changed. It is defining women and femininity as giving, nurturing, and a mother figure that is worshipped and elevated amongst the highest regard. The idea lead me into thinking this goddess is among us, It's the ultimate housewife, it's our hard-working mothers that don't stop being the housewife no matter how many other things there are on their plate. Our mothers don't stop being a housewife even though they have a career or they have kids. For that reason I am dedicating this series to the housewife in every one of us.
