I have such a crush on this piece ~ it's American and dates from the 1940's ~ it's a wing chair slipcover made of a heavy weight silk like fabric, perhaps rayon? ( rayon was invented in the late 1800's) The pattern is SO wonderful ~ heavy weight, very durable! ~
MEASUREMENTS: This textile measures approximately:
The back: 20inches high by 19 inches wide ( the back is about 5 inches wide to receive the wings)
The seat: 18inches deep by 22 inches wide
CONDITION: This textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition for collectors, but can be machine washed on gentle and hung to dry! You can see on the right facing arm, they had a cat! It's been clawing on that arm! ~those threads can be shaved away, but I like to leave everything in as found condition as it's part of the history of the textile ~ ( cat scratched arm reflected in the price ) ~ it's gorgeous but not without signs of time and use ~*~
