As I live next to the sea I get a lot of my inspiration and ideas from the patterns and texture I see there. This sculpture is a little different as it was inspired by one of a collection of beautiful shells my neighbour brought back from the island of Fiji. I loved the shape and the way it had been broken and tumbled on the seabed.

I make the sculptures first in clay and then cold cast each addition in bronze and resin. Each one is unique as they are finished by hand using several stages before the final finish is achieved. These sculptures are of the highest quality finish and great care and time is taken to achieve this.

Q. Do they weather with age?
A. The sculptures are completely frost-proof making them suitable for the garden. They can be cleaned if required by using a small "wash up" sponge. The rough side of the sponge will highlight the metal.

Q. What about after care?
A. Do not use strong detergents or chemical cleaners, as this will destroy the patination. If the sculpture is placed outside, it is advisable to polish the sculpture with pure bees wax once a year. The wax is contained in a tin and applied using a brush. Leave for 2 hours and then gently buff with a cloth.

Q. Ordering sculptures?
A. Ordering an additional sculpture in aluminium or another finish such as bronze or rusted iron for example has a lead-time of approximately 6 weeks.

Q. Do they weather with age?
A. The sculptures are completely frost-proof making them suitable
for the garden. Due to the almost solid bronze outer layer, they do react with the weather and can, as solid bronze, develop verdigris. This can be cleaned off if required by using a small "wash up" sponge with a rough side to it. This will highlight the metal.

Q. What about aftercare?
A. Do not use strong detergents or chemical cleaners, as this will destroy the patination. It is advisable to polish them with pure bees wax once or twice a year. Brush on the wax from the tin, leave for 2 hours before gently buffing.

The sculptures are made with a threaded rod screwed into the underside and cemented in. This is then bolted onto the slate base if provided with the sculpture.
If the slate base is placed on a flat non porous surface, I recommend securing it with Museum Wax, which will stop it from being knocked off. This is a non permanent solution and the Museum Wax does not dry.
You could also use epoxy resin glue to cement the base in place permanently.

Some photos show my sculptures displayed on slate-affect planters that have been turned upside down and used as pedestals. They are relatively inexpensive and you can find a variety of stone finishes and sizes. They are also easy to move around. One customer placed a tile, matching in size and colour, on top of an upturned planter to display their sculpture, which looked great. https://www.primrose.co.uk/planters

We love this. We had been looking at this sculpture for a while on Etsy. It is so different from many large garden sculptures. Spending this amount of money was slightly worrying without seeing it in person but communication from Kara was excellent. It looks even better than in the photos.
