This is a universal fretboard CAD model set in PRS's 25" scale suitable for cutting on CNC routers and mills.

WE NOW ARE TAKING CUSTOM REQUESTS FOR SCALES, SCALLOPS, MULTISCALE, BINDING COMPENSATION, BLIND FRET SLOTS and INLAYS!

This model is not a model like you might use to 3d print or render an image. It is a set of modular models designed for individual cutting operations. It includes:

- 2 formats: STEP (solid model) and F3D (Fusion 360)
- The models are sorted by operation. Outlines, slots, radius, nut, etc.
- Fret slot bottoms are curved to match each of the fretboard radius surfaces. Slot depth is 0.08" from that surface. Includes a zero fret slot.
- Flat bottom 1/8" width nut slot pattern included, as well as as a curved nut slot for each radius. You can also just cut the board at the nut for a more common large nut
- The finished board model is 3/16" thick to be milled from a 1/4" blank ideally. You can however easily just use a thicker or thinner board, and even use it for a 1 piece neck
- 10 different radius surfaces. Flat, 7.25" 9.5", 12", 16", 20", and compound 10" to 16" and 12" to 20" compound radius (large number measured at bridge)
- Premade outlines with 1.5", 1.625", 1.6875", 1.75" 6 string nuts, and 1.875", 1.9325", and 2" 7 string widths
- Fretboards are split at 21, 22, and 24 frets. The end cut is square. You can of course make your own cut at any fret easily.
- Registration hole pattern to help with fixturing and gluing to your neck. Our neck back models will have matching hole patterns

The "home zero" coordinates of this project is at the center of the bridge. The nut line is 25" from that point. Consult your bridge instructions to see where they define the center. The file base units are in millimeters, so when you import it into your software make sure the scale is set correctly at 25.4mm per inch. Some software will move the model on import, so pay attention to that.

We strongly recommend using Fusion 360 as the project is a single file and easy to manage, whether you use Fusions built in CAM or alternative software. Fusion 360 is free for personal use and fairly easy to learn.

Note: This download does NOT include any 2d vector drawings, however those can easily be extracted from the STEP or F3D files in your CAD software. Because people will use these files in 50,000 different ways, it is easier to let people do this part on their own.
