Why are your pieces made to order?

Each object is made to order because I believe that true artistry lies not only in the design, but in the act of making. I craft every piece, and that personal involvement transforms each object into an art object, shaped with intention and care. My technique ensures every pieces maintain an integrity - without losing the uniqueness that comes from being handcrafted. Sometimes I come across a wood fragment with years of history, just enough to create a single unit. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. That’s part of what makes each piece special. When you receive a piece, it’s not just something I had in stock - it’s something I made for you. Making to order also supports sustainability. It reduces waste, avoids overproduction.

Are your pieces produced in limited editions?

Not in the traditional sense. I don’t work with predefined edition numbers, because setting an arbitrary limit would restrict my creative freedom. I don’t want to feel obliged to continue producing a piece after it stops feeling meaningful, nor do I want to stop simply because I reached a number I imposed on myself. My work is created in open series. I produce new units only while each piece continues to make sense in my practice and while I take genuine pleasure in making it. There is no fixed edition size, and production may continue or end according to my creative rhythm.

What kind of wood do you use?

I mostly work with reclaimed wood - pieces salvaged from broken furniture or discarded materials. These fragments carry stories and character that new wood simply can’t replicate. Collecting and repurposing them is part of my creative process, and often, it’s enough to keep me going. Occasionally, I do need to purchase wood to meet specific design or production needs. When I do, I choose responsibly sourced materials that align with my commitment to sustainability and quality. Often, you’ll find unique pieces in my shop - made from reclaimed wood that’s decades old. Sometimes I come across a fragment with 40 years of history, just enough to create a single unit. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. That’s part of what makes each piece special.

Why do you use MDF as one of your main materials?

When treated with care and finished using my own techniques, MDF becomes an expressive and versatile material - capable of capturing the precision, texture, and emotion I seek in each piece. MDF consistency make it ideal for the kind of thoughtful design I pursue. It enables me to replicate each piece with high quality while still allowing space for individuality in the finishing process. Using MDF is also part of my commitment to sustainability - Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) it’s a wood byproduct - made from leftovers of the wood processing industry, such as sawdust or parts of the tree that would otherwise go unused, like branches. By choosing MDF, I’m able to transform what might be discarded into something meaningful and enduring.

How should I care for my object?

Each piece is finished with water-based varnishes and dyes, making it both durable and environmentally conscious. To preserve its beauty, simply dust gently with a soft cloth and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight. That said, each object is unique and may require specific care depending on its materials and finish. Can I customize a piece?

While each object is crafted with a specific design intention, I’m open to exploring subtle customizations - such as color variations or finish preferences. If you have something in mind, feel free to reach out. I’ll let you know what’s possible - always within the integrity of the design.

Introducing ARQS, a wall art sculpture that takes inspiration from geometry, architecture, and mid-century modern minimalist design. This piece features hand-dyed wood elements to create a stunning contrast of colors and textures, all mounted in a black frame made from recycled wood.

The vibrant wooden elements, made from pine wood, are designed using proportions derived from the golden rectangle. These geometric pieces are arranged to form an abstract motif. The structure, made from recycled wood boards (MDF), is finished by hand with a unique technique I developed, resulting in a rich, textured black surface that enhances the natural beauty of the colorful wood elements.

The unique technique used in creating this piece involves a meticulous process that combines traditional craftsmanship with innovative methods that I have honed over the last years. Here’s a more detailed look:

1 - Selection of Wood (reclaimed): Each piece of wood is carefully selected for its unique grain and texture, ensuring that every volume has its own distinct character.

2 - Preparation and Shaping: The wood is then precisely cut and shaped into various volumes. I use a CNC cutting machine for an accurate assembling.

3 - Hand-Finishing: Each piece is hand-finished, a process that involves careful sanding to achieve a smooth surface. This step highlights the wood natural texture.

4 - Water-Based Dye Application: Using water-based dyes, the recycled wood board is hand-dyed in a way that enhances its original texture. This eco-friendly approach not only adds vibrant hues but also ensures that all textures remains visible and tactile.

5 - Varnishing: A special varnish is applied to protect the wood. This varnish is also water-based, aligning with the environmentally conscious ethos of the artwork.

6 - Assembly and polishing: Finally, the colored and varnished parts are carefuly assembled using dowel-joint joinery techniques. Everything is carefuly polished to obtain a refined surface and give it a subtle sheen.
