A threaded connection that is cleaner and simpler than purchasing a plumbing fitting, but not nearly as expensive as threaded brass inserts. One half fits into the opening on the main body, while the other gets glued into the lid. Look at the drawing for dimensional information and match your desired size to the available stock. I can also create custom sizes as needed up to 240mm [9.5"]

This design has been changed in March of 2024 to improve the assembly. If you would like the finer threaded version (or have earlier versions that you want to match with) just add a note to the order indicating so.

For those looking for tricks to finish the top of the lid/bottom of the base, I have also designed a mount that fits into chuck jaws. It has a matching thread, simply select the same size thread as the inserts you've purchased.

This product is manufactured out of a corn based polymer called PLA. It has good mechanical properties up to about 60°C. Exceeding that temperature (e.g. sitting in the hot sun in a closed space) can cause deformation and loss of strength. If higher temperature resistance is needed send a message to inquire about other options!

This is 3D a printed design of my own creation and is manufactured in Ottawa, Canada. It was popular with the Valley Woodturners, so I thought I would make it available for others!

Note that ordering this product only includes the 3D printed object. No wood products are included in this order. If you are interested in custom wood turned products send a message to inquire about available pieces.
