The skins really are very durable. If you play like I do I see no reason why they wouldn't last for several years. If you get savage with your kit and pound like a ramrod on every scorching pummel, probably not as long! If you are not satisfied with their longevity please get in touch and I'll make it right.

The heads last exactly as long as a standard Remo Ambassador head lasts, which is a good long while, but again, this has everything to do with your drumming style. One method for preserving them is to add a smaller skin to the head--it will take much of the abuse that would normally be absorbed by the head.

Yes, the skins have an advanced, removable adhesive backing, designed to stay in place on a head but to release cleanly, leaving no residue behind. On COATED tom and snare drums it stays down nicely but comes up easily too. With these, the skin can easily be removed and reused on another head or even placed on your relatively smooth wall while it waits for another drum assignment. With a SMOOTH, non-textured head the skin will stick more strongly. It will still remove cleanly and if you're careful it can be reused too. However with larger skins it can be tricky to remove and place again, mostly because it is not on a backing once removed and the backing helps in the placement.
Please note: A smooth head is required for bass drum skins.
