ABOUT THE DESIGN:
- The Meow hat comes in 3 options - a beanie, a bonnet and a balaclava. The base is exactly the same for all versions and the different finishings for each hat come later. So the construction is not too complicated and you can still choose which option you want to make while crocheting.
- You can also decide whether you want to make your Meow hat plain or checkered.
- At the end you can also leave it just the way it is with a squarish shape on the top, or you can sew the corners together, creating more of an “ear” shape.
- If you used some hairy yarn, you might also brush out the hat giving it some fluffiness. But you can also leave it just the way it is with beautiful visible lemon peel stitch

LEVEL:
This pattern includes short video guides which explain the whole process and the needed techniques (also how to start a crochet work and how make all needed stitches) so I would say it is suitable already for confident beginners!

SIZING:
This pattern is written in two sizes - baby/kid and adult. However, you can eventually adjust the size to your own preferences based on some of my additional instructions (orange boxes) mentioned in the pattern (also if you don't exactly meet the gauge from the pattern).

GAUGE:
10 cm x 10 cm = 15 lemon peel st x 13 rows -> 15 lemon peel st = (sc, dc) x 7, sc

HOOK:
5 mm

YARN:
aran / worsted / 10 ply weight yarn

In order to make the adult version of the bonnet, you will need around 210 meters (when worked with one strand only) of aran / worsted yarn. Make sure you can meet the gauge (crochet a gauge swatch before starting with the hat)!
I used one strand of Flora combined with two strands of Kid-Silk, both from Drops. When making the checkered version I needed half ball of Flora in each color (one ball 50 grams = 210 meters) and one ball of Kid-Silk in each color (one ball 25 grams = 210 meters).

The pattern is clearly written, includes charts and good quality photos.

Language: English.

I will admit that the pattern is written out differently than what I’m used to. The videos were a PERFECT to explain it all though. I highly recommend to read the patterns with review first the watch the videos after.
