We are excited to finally be bringing you downloadable original content, booklets, pamphlets, and even some old books from our vast collections of material on Historical Cosmetics and Apothecary!
We have been collecting for many, many, many years, and we have so many interesting tidbits to bring you. So stay tuned, and we will be scanning more of our collections in for your enjoyment. Please be aware that this is a digital download, meaning that it will be delivered to your inbox. It is not the actual physical booklet. We can't part with our original copy. However, we did scan the pages for you at high resolution, so you get to see what we do when we loeyok at our original located in our archives.
This pamphlet came from 1910 and was published by the A.J. Krank Mfg. CO in St. Paul, MN. The original 28-page booklet has sepia illustrations and helpful hints throughout. Booklets like this were used as advertising material while, at the same time, being a midcentury guide to care of the skin and exercises for women. The company hoped that by giving away helpful information or including it with purchase, those using the booklet would order or reorder the products advertised after learning how they are indispensable for an everyday healthy lifestyle.
While we don't have those products today, the tips and tricks for healthy skin and massage are still valid and useful. Plus if you ever wanted to exercise like an Edwardian lady- here is your chance to learn some of what was considered popular and important back then. Plus, the model is a "normal-sized" woman!!
Subjects discussed in the pamphlet:
1. Absolute Cleanliness
2. What Pink Blush is - ( it says it was the result of 26 years of scientific research and experimentation) What I find interesting about this cream is that it touts a lot of promises for a good clear complexion that will preserve the healthy glow of childhood. So, it would appear to me more of a cold cream/massage cream similar to our Violette Massage Cream in the shop. However, the name may suggest ( other than health and youth) that it may have been tinted pink. I don't know, but these are the tiny bits I find fascinating. It also has a section in the back for Men. The original maker of this cosmetic originally sold to barber shops, so I'd be interested in learning more about who used the product ( Both men and women?) and where it was all sold.
3. Instructions for facial massage
4. What massage consists of
5. Mouth and Nose
6. Blackheads
7. Fat Faces
8. Thin Faces
9. Dry Skin
10. Sluggish or Greasy Skins
11. Health building exercises
12. Pink Blush For Men
13. Original owners penciled notes
Enjoy. Once you purchase and download the file, you will be sent 1 pdf which contains all the information and pages from this historical booklet.
