I love old kitchen utensils. Not only are they usable (in most cases) but they make a wonderful display when hung on the wall or placed prominently on a shelf. In the case of this early 1900’s measuring cup…..IT HOLDS WATER so you can display a kitchen bouquet in it.

Such early tin tools and cups, etc., are hard to find in good condition. Unlike their porcelain counterparts, they were often tossed out or relegated to the barn for a variety of uses that eventually destroyed them. So, in my own collecting, I don’t mind some rust. BTW, you can clean them up and use a flat spray lacquer to improve their appearance.

Please study my photos. The cup has a good size dented area on one side and there is a lot of rust here and there on both pieces. However, all the soldered areas and rivets are intact and there are no tears or holes in either piece.

The embossing on the cup’s side is beautifully done … from “½ Pt”. to “1 Qt. Liq’d” ….all in a fancy font.

The base reads: NOT LEGAL FOR USE IN TRADE. It makes sense that this measuring cup was for use a home because it was not made for heavy duty, repeated use. The handle is intact and supports the filled cup but with only 3 rivits and some solder, it never was made to be extremely strong.

The height of this cup is 5 ½ inches and the diameter of the base is 4 inches.

The apple corer is 6 in. X 3 1/4 inches. It is sturdy enough to core apples but might also have been for other fruit.
