Fingerless mitts made with a gusset and thumb are superb for flexibility and ease of shopping, texting, knitting, or working while keeping your hands warm. Most fingerless mitts do not have the extra covering for thumb joints. These gloves cover those joints where most of us with arthritis have real pain.

These are also especially good for arthritic hands indoors and out, the warmth keeps your joints flexible, and you still can do housework, work on the computer, and in winter, when I lived in the "cold north", I even knit with them on. With your thumb joint covered, that problem area is also protected. The rib effect over the whole length of the mitt allows for plenty of stretch where needed, yet the snugness you want.

For these mitts I used this year's Pantone color, Fuzzy Peach, a soft, fun color to wear.

Size is teen or women size small, though they do stretch quite a bit because of the ribbing throughout. For those with arthritis, it’s good to have them a little snug. I wear an XLG, so they are really too small for me, I did put part of my hand in the cuff in some of the photos to show the stretch.

These also have a generous 2" cuff so they also cover your wrist. Overall length is 8.75”.

Machine washable, though I prefer to wash all my knits by hand in warm water and dry flat. These are made of non-allergenic acrylic yarn. A friend just told me they're great when walking the dog -- you don't have to remove your gloves or mittens when cleaning up after your dog -- I never thought of that one. I've seen musicians, even pianists, wearing them during outdoor performances and in marching bands.
