These beauties were inspired by Barbara Grainger, who made a cute, brick stitch pine cone with Miyuki magatama beads and challenged me to come up with a bead crochet pine cone. I played around, using single crochet, until I had a shape I liked and then expanded on the idea with a tiny( 1.25 inches, 4 centimeters), small (1.75 inches, 4.5 cms), medium (2 inches, 5 cms) and large (2.5 inches, 6.5 cms) pine cone. The tiny and small pine cones are a great size for a pendant.

This illustrated, Intermediate-level bead crochet pattern shows you how to transform 4mm x 7mm Miyuki magatama beads and nylon thread into pine cones of 4 different sizes. You will learn one method of the bead single crochet (UK double crochet) stitch, how to increase in bead crochet, and one way to decrease in bead crochet. The principal is the same for all 4 pine cones, only the number of rows and beads per row differs. With so many sizes to choose from, you may just find yourself making a bunch to fill a bowl for an eye-catching fall decoration or as a quick necklace to give as a gift.

Adorable little project. Love my pinecone! The pictures were so clear and helpful! I would have liked one that showed how to go through both threads of the chain stitch. I just couldn't figure that out for some reason.
