Horus was said to have the sun and moon for eyes. Beloved son of Osiris and Isis, Horus was conceived after Isis resurrected Osiris who had been murdered. Horus was the divine child-god who took his father's place ruling Egypt. He battled Set, his uncle, and murderer of his father - to claim his rightful rule over Egypt, protecting Egypt from Set's continued attempts to take it. Horus was one of the main ruling deities of Egypt alongside Ra - and Pharaohs were said to be incarnations of Horus. Horus was said to be a fierce warrior, and when neither the sun nor moon were in the sky, he was especially dangerous as he was blind and could not tell friend from foe. But the Eye of Horus that Set ripped from him in battle, Horus offered up in an attempt to restore his father to life and the eye became a symbol of protection and healing.

The pin is hard enamel (black and gold) - and is about 1.75 inches tall.

It has two posts and gold backings and comes on a luxuriously thick backing card with soft-touch coating and embossed gold foil of Horus's name in English and Hieroglyphics - that beautifully frames the pin design.
