Equality Imapact Assessment

An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is a thorough analysis designed to ensure that policies, programmes, and practices within an organisation do not inadvertently discriminate against any particular group, especially those protected under the UK Equality Act 2010. These groups include individuals differentiated by characteristics such as age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

Purpose of an EIA: The primary aim of conducting an EIA is to identify and assess the potential (or actual) impact of an organisation's actions on various groups within society. This process helps in recognising any areas where the policy might unintentionally promote inequality or exclusion.
