WHAT IS A PAPERCUTTING?
The art of paper cutting, is a technique of illustrating by making intricate cuts rather than drawing lines. Paper cutting has a long and storied history spanning centuries and several different countries. The practice involves skillfully hand cutting paper with an X-ACTO knife, to create unique delicate pieces of art.
ABOUT THIS PIECE
This artwork is an intricate lasercutting of an anatomical eyeball. The lasercut piece is based on Ali Harrison’s original hand cut papercutting designs. All Light and Paper designs begin with an original illustration, and then are hand cut with an x-acto knife. We then scan the design and convert it to be lasercut. Learn more about Ali’s story here, including why we make anatomy artwork.
