This trinket dish was handmade with love in my little home ceramics studio. Each piece was carefully shaped and carved from rich red earthenware clay. I transferred the white botanical print onto a bonedry surface before placing the dishes into the kiln to bisque fire. Each piece was then brushed with clear glaze for a food-safe and water-tight surface, then fired once more, making the print permanent and the clay non-porous. My signature is inscribed on the bottom and each dish measures 4.5 inches long and 3 inches wide.

I keep small handmade dishes in my cabinets to serve a variety of purposes- jewelry holders, condiment dishes, a small surface for a sweet treat, and catch-alls for tiny objects (of which there are MANY with two little-ones at home). Using handmade wares for simple, daily acts like placing rings next to the sink or having a special vessel for dipping veggies into ranch (my daughter’s favorite) takes a basic task and elevates it to a moment of pause and noticing. It’s a practice that adds a quiet richness to each day.
