How does 3D printing work? (FDM)

I work with two different kinds of 3D printer. My FDM (fused deposition modeling) printer works by melting spools of plastic filament through a nozzle at very high temps and printing objects layer by layer, fusing the layers as it goes. This produces sturdy, shatterproof, lightweight pieces and is great for printing larger figures. You can check out a sped-up time-lapse of a large Hecate statue being printed with this method in the shop's about section. I use a variety of PLA filaments, including ones that I paint after printing (most of my bigger statues) and ones that I let take center stage (cool textures and color shifts that can be found in some 4" statues and limited run pocket charms).

How does 3D printing work? (SLA)

I work with two different kinds of 3D printer. My SLA (stereolithography) printer works by using a UV laser to selectively cure liquid resin into a solid layer by layer. (Fun fact: these print upside down!) This is known as vat polymerization. After removing the prints, I double wash the prints, remove supports, and do a final cure. Because this method doesn't involve any thermal expansion, resin printing is great for doing fine details on tiny pieces. I use this method to do my tiniest pocket charms and daintier jewelry. You can check out a picture of my resin printer station setup in the shop's about section. The respirator is a must for this method! I use a high quality 8k standard resin and paint the pieces after the final cure.

Jewelry: It's best practice to avoid getting jewelry wet (in the shower, pool, etc.) to extend its lifespan. Remove before sleeping or working out. Avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray, lotions, and other chemicals. Store in a box or pouch in a clean, dry place. Clean with a soft, clean cloth. 3D-Printed Figures: To ensure the longevity of your statue, avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures to prevent warping. Clean with a soft, clean cloth (avoid harsh chemicals) to prevent damaging the finish. Although I do pressure and drop test my prints, avoid applying excessive pressure and throwing/dropping them.

What is the shipping timeline for statues?

With the exception of some one-off OOAK statues that I complete before listing, the mass majority of my 3D-printed figures are completely made to order. Because a lot of these listings involve printing off the item and then painting it in the color of your choice, I need to wait until everything has fully set before I can safely get it on its way to you. The curing time varies based on the paint type, the weather/humidity at the time, and the size of the item. For this reason, the processing time is set to 3-5 days. I always aim to get these orders out in the earlier side of that range, but prioritize making sure things will make it to you in pristine condition.

What is the shipping timeline for everything else?

The processing time for most of my items is set to 3-5 days to allow for the full production process. However, because I often make small batches of my jewelry and smaller pieces, I'm usually able to get them out sooner rather than later. Stationery is all made to order and is a time-consuming process, but historically I have always been able to get stationery items shipped out early since there is no paint curing involved. If you have concerns about a specific item being shipped by a certain date, feel free to reach out before ordering and I can give you a more accurate date based on what I have on hand at the moment.

What materials are used in your jewelry?

I prioritize using hypoallergenic materials since I personally have sensitive skin. These materials are always clearly listed in the product description and I always explicitly state when something is plated vs. solid - I want you to know exactly what you're getting so you can make an informed decision. I do not use brass, plated or otherwise, in my designs. I always make and wear a tester piece of my new designs before listing them. If you have any specific concerns or questions about materials, feel free to reach out and I'll be happy to address them!

Gift wrapping and packaging

I wrap everything with care, packaging most items with tissue paper and a shop logo sticker. Depending on the items being shipped, I use either a bubble mailer or an appropriately-sized box. It is important to me that opening your package is a pleasant experience! Holiday-themed gift wrapping is currently available for purchase in the Holiday section of the shop.

Custom and personalized orders

Although I do not offer custom orders at this time, I am more than happy to see if I can accomodate specific requests based on materials I have on hand. Feel free to reach out and ask before purchasing if you have something special in mind. If you need more of a specific item than I currently have listed, just shoot me a message and I can probably adjust the available quantity. Because my items are made to order, my in-stock numbers generally do not reflect my on-hand finished pieces.

What if I entered the wrong address in checkout?

If you realize you entered the wrong address during checkout, please contact me ASAP so I can try to cancel and refund the order for you to re-place with the correct address. Once I've handed your package off to the post office, I am unable to update the address. If the package is returned to sender due to insufficient address, I will gladly set up a custom listing for the price of shipping and get it shipped back out to you at the corrected address. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ADDRESS, INCLUDING UNIT NUMBER AND CITY NAME. Sometimes autofill does weird things! I am not responsible for packages being undeliverable due to incorrect address entered at checkout, but I will always do my best to ensure that your transaction ends on a happy note!

Are similar listings from other stores associated with you?

No - PolyhymniaAtelier is my only storefront. Several of my items are inspired by historical pieces of art in the public domain. I personally enjoy and support many artists who draw inspiration from these beautiful artworks and encourage you to do the same! However, it is inevitable that copycat listings will pop up.
