Nigel Cox Flambe Glazed Studio Vase, 14.5 cm (H), British Studio Pottery, Impress Marked, c1980s

This is beautifully made, it caught my eye even before I entered a vintage shop. The flambe glaze or Sang De Bouef glaze is usually related to antique Chinese pottery made in the Qing dynasty where they were trying to recreate the Jun wares made in the the Song Dynasty.

Nigel Cox had been making pottery for only a short period of time with his wife Lynn Cox at Hay on Wye in Wales in the 80s. They later ceased potting in 1990s. Nigel has passed away in around 2010s. [1-2]
