This yarn was fractal plied - fractals are patterns that repeat themselves on different scales. In fractal plied yarns there are color repeats on different scales resulting in a self striping yarn with a smaller subtle stripe set within a larger subtle stripe. Many of my plied yarns are fractal plied because I love the complexity of them and the result folks get when crocheting, weaving or knitting with them.
