To keep the shelter in good working order, it should be elevated a few inches off the ground using wood pallets, milk crates, bricks, etc. You can add extra weight to the shelter lid to reinforce it against the wind and elements. Position the open entrance hole of the shelter facing a stationary object such as a garage, house, or shed if possible. Please be aware of roof and gutter run off, so it isn't directed at shelter. How should I set up my new cat shelter with straw and a self-warming mat?

When setting up your new cat shelter, the self-warming mat (if you purchased one) should be on the very bottom. Next, add a layer of straw on top of the mat. The straw will provide insulation and let the cats burrow down to the mat for warmth. It's important to remember that the self-warming mat should only be used when the temperatures and the weather turns cold. Additionally, if the mat becomes damp or dirty, it can be easily cleaned by washing and drying it. If you didn't purchase the self-warming Mat, then cover the interior bottom of the shelter with straw. Use approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of the bale supplied in your shelter. The shelter needs regular upkeep and maintenance. Check straw often to make sure its fit for your kitty. 🐱🐈⬛

Do we use safe and ecofriendly materials?

At BizzyBrand we have chosen not to use Pvc tubes for entrances and exits like a lot of our competitors, its known to leech chemicals harmful to animals. We Use plastic made from renewable resources and We recycle packing materials whenever possible.

How do I get the kitty to use the shelter

Cats tend to be very skittish creatures by nature. Building their trust is key. Cats may take some time to acclimate to the shelter, Patience is key. luring the kitties to the shelter with food and catnip can be an affective tactic. Use canned cat food or a pungent canned fish(mackerel/sardines) to lure the cat into the shelter. Start with bowl of food away from shelter. Every couple days move it a bit closer to the shelter until its inside the shelter and hopefully the cat will follow. Once the cat starts using shelter, then feed them a short distance from the shelter as to not attract predators into the shelter.
