This cool book about the famous American artist, Winslow Homer, has black linen covers (with silver lettering) and a sturdy glossy paper book jacket, and is in very good condition. It's rather large at 11-5/8 inches tall and 8-1/2 inches wide. There are 260 pages (with the index) and it was created in 1986 in honor of the 150th anniversary of Winslow Homer's birth. The artist was famous for his oil paintings and watercolor paintings, mostly created in the late 1800s.
There is a detailed history along with many color pictures of his paintings from different times in his life, including his first watercolors, Houghton Farm (in New York) in 1878, Gloucester in 1880, London to Cullercoats (in England) in 1881, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cuba, Florida, the Adirondacks, Quebec, and his final years.
Winslow Homer was born in Boston in 1836 and died in 1910. He lived for awhile in Paris, France (1866-1867) and England (1881-1882).
This book was made in the USA and has a copyright date of 1986, by the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. It was printed by the Yale University Press in Connecticut.
There are no signs of use (no handwriting, scribbles, stains, or tears) and the binding is tight. The paper book jacket is slightly yellowed from age.
