This is a rare 9ct gold camera charm with a stanhope lens which shows scenes of London, which are;
The Strand, The Law Courts, The Tower and Tower Bridge and London Bridge.
It weighs 2.3 grams and measures 12mm by 8mm (1/2 inch by just over 1/4 inch)
Hallmarked 9ct gold, maker IG London, year 1959, it will come with a jump ring attached.
A Stanhope charm is a tiny lens, containing a micro photograph and inserted into the charm. The photo inside is the size of a pinhead and has to be held up to a light and close to one's eye to view the image. The lens was invented by Charles, 3rd earl of Stanhope in the late 18th century.
