Michigan Cap, also called a Canadian Cap. We are pleased to offer this unique cap in limited supply after months of searching to resupply the materials. The 100% wool felt was from Europe and is no longer manufactured. This run of Michigan Caps will be the final caps. The Indigo Dyed Tassels are the last made of one-of-a-kind wool, spun and dyed by artist Terre Biederman, who no longer creates this unique yarn. Lining is 100% natural color linen.

Description of the reproduced cap:
Kathy Bradford researched these caps carefully and methodically in the early 2000s when there was a growing interest in the 4th Michigan caps found modeled in images from the early years of the American Civil War. It is sometimes referenced to as a fez or "Canadian cap" and continues to garner a great deal of discussion and interest by living historians.
We have located a beautiful maroon 100% wool felt to fashion the cap and lined with a unbleached linen. Terre Hood Biedermann's famous indigo hand spun, hand dyed wool yarn is used to fashion the unique, long blue tassels that makes the caps so distinctive.
