13.5 fl. oz. Tall White Ceramic Travel Mug, 400 ml White and Beige Travel Mug With Ceramic Lid
This Travel Mug does NOT have a handle
If you're in a hurry to get to work but you need that first cup of coffee or herbal tea to get you going, this travel mug with a ceramic lid is perfect for you. You can take it with you on your commute to work. It has a lid with a special locking feature which prevents it from being removed while in the locked position. When the lid is on, it can be turned 90 degrees to line up the notch in the lid with one of the notches of the mug allowing you to drink from the exposed opening. When the lid is turned less than 90 degrees, it is in a locked position and the openings are covered. Being handmade, the lid will not hermetically seal the mug, but the beverage will not splash out as it travels with you.
It is made from a beige speckled stoneware clay and glazed with a white matte glaze.
This mug is the backup for J's two tall Travel Mugs. I'm sure she, by now, is putting hers to good use.
If you intend placing this mug in your car cup holder please take a careful look at the measurements below to make sure it will fit.
I think out of all the items that I have in my shop Travel Mugs are the most complicated to make. Getting the lid to fit perfectly so that it is not too loose and not too tight, has taken me a long time ( and many failures ), to master.
Placing the lid on the mug and locking it is easy because you can see where to align the notches of the mug with the protrusions on the lid. Removing the lid is another matter because the notches of the mug are hidden when the lid is in place.
Normally, when there is a handle on the mug, you would position the notch in the lid opposite the handle in order to remove it. When the notch of the lid is opposite the handle or, in this case, opposite one of the tiny crimson colored dots, the small protrusions on the lid ( the locking feature ) are aligned with the notches of the mug enabling the lid to be removed.
The last image of the white travel mug shows the notch in the lid aligned with one of the small glaze dots, for removal.
I tried to keep the crimson glaze dots as minimal as possible so that they won't effect the elegant appearance of the mug.
The matching colored dot in the center of the lid is J's suggestion. She has several white mugs and so to prevent her from getting the lids and mugs mixed up, I marked each set with different colored dots.
The last images show Travel Mugs made from a brown clay and glazed with black matte glaze, with or without a handle. You can see them in more detail in the links below.
