A unique slab of Finnish Spectrolite. And its peculiarity is that the plate has different colors on different sides. One is bright orange, the second is deep blue with hints of turquoise. Plus the blue side has a natural rough surface, which is rare to find an unsawed part, and such a bright unpolished one in nature. Another feature of the slab is that the orange side changes its hue from reddish-orange to almost yellow. The less light that hits the stone, the yellower it will be.

The mine is very close of Ylämaa village. Only the finest of Labradorite from Finland is called Spectrolite. This is a variety of Plagioclase Feldspar and makes the most beautiful jewelry/pieces that can command a very high price. The most notable feature of Spectrolite is its iridescence. A rough chunk can look like a boring greyish lump until you turn it in the light. Then you will see flashes of Royal Blue, Aqua, Green, Orange and Red colors or Gold lighting it up. Polished pieces reveal wonderful colours in patches like butterfly wings.
