A vintage English freemason regalia collection - belonging to one Leonard George Bacon Esq, who was Steward to the Wyley Lodge in Coventry in 1966 -1968. The lodge was consecrated May 4th, 1918 and the number is 3836. The collection consists of:
- his small leather suitcase, monogrammed L.G.B.
- a master mason lambskin apron, cream in colour, with 3 sky blue rosettes and 2-inch edging and back lining (no monogram or name), fitted with silver toned metal tassels and blue waistband string. The closure shaped like a snake.
- a pair of white gloves, large man´s size
- a small hardcover cloth bound book "United Grand Lodge of England Constitutions 1947"
- a Duke of Sussex gilt medallion, the band engraved for Bro L.G. Bacon, RMBI 1956, RMIB 1965, RMIG 1966
- a medal: Steward 1956 RMBI Province of Warwickshire in a blue and white board box
- a medal: Steward 1966 Royal Masonic Institute for Boys. Marked on the back for the maker J.R.Gaunt, London and in the original box
- a medal: Steward 1966 Royal Masonic Institute for Girls with their slogan "Provyde". Marked on the back for the maker JR Gaunt London
- 2 medals, identical: Steward 1965 Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution.
- Wyley Lodge session booklets 1966-67 and 1967-68
- a paper slip for Bro L.G. Bacon, resigning from the Wyley Lodge no 3836 on the 24th of sept 1971
- an official certificate for the entry of the name of L.G.Bacon , 3rd degree mason, into the books officiated in London by Grand Master The Right honourable The Earl of Scarbrough KG (Roger Lumley)
- various paperwork, receipts, invitations to lodge events and ceremonies
Condition: all pieces with marks of age and use. The apron with folds and crackling to the leather and wear to the silver toned metal pieces. The gloves with staining and some discoloration. The suitcase with scuffs and wear, and a lock piece missing and one clasp cannot shut. the medals look in good shape, only the one for the Girls institute with some wear and both the 1965 Steward medals are sticky on the front surfaces. The gilded medallion can be taken out the enclosure by pressing the centre out.
