Leather & Material Guide
This bag is designed to be unlined. The character of the bag will change completely depending on the temper (stiffness) of the leather you choose!
If you wish to craft a lining for it, you can just make the same bag again from your lining leather and sew them together.

For a Structured (Boxy) Look: Use a stiff leather that holds its shape. The bag will stand up on its own and have a defined silhouette. Recommended: Vegetable Tanned leather, Bridle leather, or stiff Oil Tanned leather.

For a Relaxed (Slouchy) Look: Use a soft leather with a flexible temper. The bag will drape naturally against the body and feel softer to wear. Recommended: Suede, Nubuck, Milled/Pebbled leather, or soft Chrome Tanned.

Required Materials

Leather Weight: 3 – 5 oz (1.2mm – 2mm)

Thread: 0.6mm to 1mm waxed thread

Minimum Leather Needed: 42 × 80 cm (16.5” × 31.5”) usable area (only if your hide is perfectly clean).

Recommended Leather Needed: 60 × 100 cm usable area. Because hides have thin spots, stretch, scars, brand marks, wrinkles, and wonky edges, you should always plan for extra.

This style bag is outside my normal pick, but my daughter mentioned it so I decided to give it a try. Pattern was clear, with all the necessary details and the result was excellent. I like the style of the bag ends. When stitched inside out it gives a unique look to the ends. I used a thicker leather of 2.5mm which I would change to 2mm or slightly less.
