There have been many forms of cuneiform over time, and if your students are learning about Ancient Mesopotamia or Ancient Sumer, it’s always fun to try an ancient form of writing.

This printable pack comes with three activities to learn about cuneiform.

In activity one, students:
*Read about cuneiform and write three facts on clay tablets to store inside a box.

In activity two (Sumerian), students can:
*Write the script next to the symbols, in the boxes given, or on their own paper.
*Copy over the symbols.
*Decode the symbols in a story.

In activity three (old Persian), students can:
*Write their name and decode “Cradle of Civilization”.
*Write their name and decode three inventions.
*Extension – students can use the symbols to write their own word or message.
