Chrome diopside vintage faceted gemstone weighing 2.29 carats. This is a gorgeous 10.2x 6.0 mm emerald cut stone, dark green in color, which was custom cut from rough that Joel acquired from the USSR in 1978. The stone is flawless to the unaided eye (eye clean) and extremely brilliant!

The cutting is extraordinary and was done in Bangkok to insure high polish and brilliancy. The cutting is FAR superior to what you find in jewelry stores!

Price is for this one faceted 2.29 carat chrome diopside gemstone which we 100% guarantee to be natural untreated material and vintage from the 1970's!

Chrome diopside is one of a number of gems that have made the transition from "collector stones" to "commercial gems" in the last 20 years. The color is that of the finest emerald, but chrome diopside is much cleaner and not as brittle as emerald. In addition, chrome diopside is much rarer than emerald but sells for a fraction of the price! This is because emerald has a "head start" of several thousand years in terms of awareness and public acceptance as a "precious" gem!

Chrome diopside is available in commercial quantities only from Russia, and is very rare if eye-clean in sizes over 3-5 carats.
