FABULOUS ANTIQUE GEORGIAN BAGUE AU FIRMAMENT CELESTIAL STAR RING.

Such large scale rings became fashionable in France from around 1785 when a coloured (usually blue) paste ground was studded with stones, scattered like stars in the nights sky. In 1778, the long awaited news of the pregnancy of French queen Marie Antoinette popularised these styles and the birth of her first son in 1781 by 'bagues a l'enfantement' the same style ring but with a single central stone.

THIS IS ABOSLUTELY BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF BAGUE AU FIRMAMENT.

A Garnet, Diamond and Enamel Ring, the round cabochon carbuncle garnet to eight radial arms set throughout with rose cut diamonds, overlaid upon an oval blue enamel plaque, to a plain polished shank.

Rose cut diamonds are stunning and it is ca. 2.0 carat weight.

UK SIZE M 1/2. US SIZE 6 1/2.
