Sinningia leucotricha is a Brazilian native gesneriad with spectacular plush, slivery leaves. It also forms a caudex-like tuber which can get quite large. The flowers attract hummingbirds.

These are blooming size plants grown from seed by me in the USA. This species blooms seasonally in spring just as they are coming out of winter dormancy.
This is one of the easiest Sinningia to grow. It typically has an active summer growing season, loving frequent watering but not waterlogged conditions and bright light. Use a high porosity soil mix. Mine lives outside in the summer in light shade, with direct sun for about half the day. A west or south facing window in the house would be equivalent. In the winter I bring it inside to a cool growing area (about 55F, but a drafty, chilly windowsill will likely suffice) to let it go dormant. Water only infrequently during dormancy. They typically shed their foliage during dormancy. This is in bold because its important that you don't worry the plant is dead when this happens.

All plants are wrapped carefully and shipped via USPS priority mail, weather permitting. Plant may be shipped bare root at my discretion. Safe arrival of buds not guaranteed. Hawaii and Alaska shipments at your own risk.
