The white plastic case can easily be opened to remove the movement, but I don’t recommend you do this. It will protect the inner mechanism from fluff. Fluff in the gears will damage the movement, so the white case that I provide you will protect the mechanism properly.

I recommend a Child Safety Key.
Once you screw it on it will not come off and get lost.

The dimensions of the movements with the case are:
2-1/8 inches x 1-7/8 inches wide and 1-1/16 inches high
(54mm x 48mm x 27mm)
You will be able to squeeze it through a fairly narrow opening in the fabric of the plush toy to secure it.

A good way to anchor it in place is with hot glue. Once the movement is placed inside the animal with the key protruding out, smear some hot glue on the white plastic back of the movement and then press the inside of the fabric over the glue. This will close up the cut in the fabric over the movement and hold it in place. No need to use needle and thread and the movement will stay in place and not get lost inside the stuffed animal.

PS: Another Tip for DIY Buyers:
Prior to placing the music box movement into the stuffed animal, tape the bottom of the movement to the top white cover of the movement. This will prevent the top cover from popping off inside the plush toy if dropped.
