Measuring your windows

Please refer to our youtube channel to view videos on measuring your windows for a Roman Shade. Click on the link below the pictures that correspond with the mount you want (inside or outside). http://www.youtube.com/user/windowsbymelissa Adding additional inches to the width and length is recommended or outside mounts that are being mounted above trim.

What fabrics are appropriate:

Here are some tips on what to look for and what to say away from when looking for fabrics for a roman shade: Appropriate: medium weight, drapery weight, 54” wide or wider, home décor Inappropriate: anything that says, “light weight,” “45” wide,” or “quilter’s cotton, silk Please send me the details of your fabric or direct link so I can ensure that your fabric will be appropriate for your order.

Will my inside mount shade be made smaller than the measurements given to ensure a good fit?

For continuous loop pull shade and cordless shades we will deduct a 1/4" from the exact width of your window to ensure of a good fit.

Is the hardware included in my order?

Yes, hardware and instructions will be provided for your order.

How are these shades mounted?

Your shades will come with printed out mounting instructions. For a PDF version, please message me your email address and I can share the PDF instructions with you.

Will you ship back any remaining fabric?

It is not customary to ship back remaining fabric as we request the bare minimum for your order. If you are wanting any fabric sent back, please arrange it with me ahead of time. If fabric is needed to be shipped back in a separate box this is at the customer expense. If any fabric is requested to be sent back after order has been shipped this is also at the customer's expense.

Do you accept expedited orders?

Yes! The turnaround time and fee is dependent on the size of the order. Please message me with your request for a quote.

Do you keep fabric in stock? Where can I see your fabric options for window treatments?

Here is a link to some fabrics you may choose for this project https://textilesbymelissa.com/all. Click on the pattern you like to see what colors it is available in. You are not limited to my fabric options. You may source it from a different vendor and have it shipped directly to me. Swatches are highly recommended as color variations can change from screen to in person.

What if I need to cancel my order?

After we begin production of your order, we cannot offer a full refund. Windows by Melissa will refund the purchase price of the order less the costs incurred or reasonably anticipated to be incurred by us at the time of the cancellation for supplies, shipping, fees and/or contract labor.

Will my shade be made to the exact measurements given?

We do our best to ensure the exact measurement. Carefully follow the instructions regarding measurement of your windows. Place your order measurements in inches. Because each item is handmade, and because of the physical qualities of some fabrics, the finished product will often not measure exactly as requested by the purchaser. Windows by Melissa guaranties that your finished product will be within 1/4 inch (for Roman shades and valences) or 1 inch (for curtains) of the requested measurements. If your product does not meet this specification, please see the Returns and Alterations section, above. We do not add or deduct anything from the measurements given.
