Why are different colors of the same piece different prices?

Differences in price depend on multiple things- mainly, different glass colors vary in price, depending on which metals are added to achieve that color. For example, the lavender colored glass costs triple the cost of the white glass! It also depends on how expensive it is to source the materials. And then some pieces, such as the silver fumed pieces, require additional material costs (the silver) and take more time to create.

What’s the difference between flameworking and glassblowing?

Flameworking, otherwise known as lampworking, involves melting solid glass rods and tubes to molten in a flame. This is usually done using a torch mounted to a bench, and is sometimes colloquially referred to as “glassblowing.” Glassblowing involves gathering already-molten glass out of a furnace using metal blow pipes and rods, then shaping at a bench.

You can use warm soapy water or rubbing alcohol to clean the glass holders. Q-tips can be used to clean the inside, but do not force a q-tip where it doesn’t fit. Blown glass pieces including drinkware and vases are dishwasher safe.

Gorgeous silver chrome metallic green mini handblown vase, made by me in the hot shop! The bottom two lumps are a silver-chrome mirror surface, which slowly fades to a transparent teal at the top lump. Lightweight and thin little vase!
