On offer is this lovely small souvenir ashtray. The silver plating shines up well still - numerous notable dents around the sides which catch the light and have blackened with tarnish build-up (please refer to images) as well as light scuffs and scratches commensurate with age; there are also a couple of worn areas near the badge exposing the base nickel silver (brassy tone) but as shown all adding to the aged charm and character of the piece.

It's of traditional form, showing four corner recesses the central area has been beautifully decorated with a maritime company badge / logo and text "Commonwealth Government Line of Steamers" - Shipping company owned by the Australian Federal Government from 1916 to 1928 - after 1923 it was known as the Australian Commonwealth Line of Steamers.

Produced by Mappin and Webb of Sheffield and London, circa early 1920's - pre 1923.

It measures a charming 11cm by 11cm (4 and 1/4 inches by 4 and 1/4 inches) and is ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
