≈ 7.1 sq ft (perfect rectangular sheet)

Realistic recommendation:
8–9 sq ft total, to account for:

• grain direction
• avoiding loose/belly areas
• clean strap placement

Leather type recommendations:
• Ideal: 1.0–1.4 mm soft cowhide

• Avoid: stiff or boardy leathers — they kill the drape
