What happens if seeds don't germinate?

Viva la Seeds sells the finest and freshest seeds in the industry. We sell is 100% pure seed, American grown seeds: no additives, no fillers. Our germination rates far exceed government standards, and when planted according to recognized practices, should provide lasting and satisfying results for years to come. That said, we can make no explicit guarantees or allowances for circumstances over which we have no control. Bad weather, poor timing, and human error can all lead to unanticipated and unsatisfactory results. As all experienced gardeners are aware, Mother Nature does not guarantee perfection, and neither can we. If there is an issue though, please contact us. We are very understanding.

Shipping issues and wrong addresses

In the event that the post office or other shipping companies lose your package in transit, please contact me and I'll do everything in my power to assist you. However, there has been a growing issue across all online businesses with customers providing incorrect addresses. This error is usually due to using auto-fill features in browsers and defaulting to old addresses. If you notice the mistake, please contact us as soon as possible and hopefully it can be caught before the order is shipped. Once it is shipped, it is out of our hands and we can not be held responsible for the mistake. There is a $3.50 charge to have it reshipped.

Custom and personalized orders

In general, I pride myself on getting orders out the day of the order. Large orders and orders during peak times may take 2-3 days to fill and process the order.

Do seeds come with growing instructions?

Yes, every order we fill has growing instructions on the label. These instructions are brief since room is limited on the labels. If you need more detailed instructions, please see the listing and there's a wealth of information on the internet. Also, don't hesitate to contact me. I'm always here to help.

30 Blue Hopi corn seeds (Zea mays) for deep blue purple kernels that grind into sweet, nutty blue cornmeal for tortillas and baking.

Blue Hopi is a traditional flour corn of the Hopi people of northern Arizona, grown for its dry kernels rather than eaten fresh like sweet corn. As the ears dry, the kernels turn a deep blue purple, and their soft, starchy interior grinds easily into a fine blue cornmeal with a slightly sweet, nutty flavor. Use it for tortillas, pancakes, cornbread, atole and other blue corn dishes. The dried ears are also beautiful for fall decorating, and a small block of plants adds striking color to the garden.

Heirloom, open pollinated and non-GMO.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, once the soil has warmed to at least 60°F; corn has no frost tolerance. Plant seeds 1 to 2 inches deep and 6 to 8 inches apart in rows spaced 30 to 36 inches apart. Seeds germinate in 7 to 10 days in warm soil. Corn is wind pollinated, so plant in a block of at least 4 short rows rather than one long row for well filled ears. To keep kernels true to type, separate it from sweet corn and other corn by distance or by planting 2 to 3 weeks apart so they do not flower at the same time. Water regularly, especially during tasseling and ear development. Leave the ears on the stalk until the husks are brown and dry and the kernels are hard, then finish drying indoors before shelling and storing.

• Life cycle: Warm season annual
• Height: 4 to 6 feet
• Days to maturity: 90 to 110 for dry corn
• Light: Full sun
• Soil: Fertile, well drained
• Water: Moderate to regular
• Seed depth: 1 to 2 inches
• Spacing: 6 to 8 inches
• Germination: 7 to 10 days
