DIY Gift Bag: Instructions & Template – Create your own unique gift bag for any occasion!

Create your own unique gift bags for any occasion! These gift bags are very versatile and you can decorate them however you wish. They can be made with any decorative card stock that you can run through your printer or you can use plain card stock and decorate and/or embellish them however you wish. In addition to that, this bag has two different looks – it can be made with paper handles, which are included in the template and attached with brads, or with ribbon handles, which are kid friendly.

As a special bonus, this template also includes a gift tag shape that’s the perfect size for the gift bag. The gift tag folds in half so it’s like a mini tag/card hybrid.

Personally, I love these gift bags – they’re the perfect size for small gifts and they’re very easy and fun to make and to personalize. This digital download is a 7 page .PDF file that contains detailed instructions with 14 photos. Three versions of the gift bag template are also included:

• one with fine black and gray lines for use with white and light colored papers
• one with fine black lines for use with light to medium colored papers
• one with bold black lines for use with dark colored papers

To make this gift bag you will need the following:

Materials:
• card stock (plain or decorative)
• 1 sheet per gift bag; (65# or heavier)
• scrap paper
• a clear drying, acid-free glue stick or double sided tape
• 4 brads or 12 inches of 1/4” ribbon to create the handles
• markers, glitter, stamps, etc. for decorating the gift bag (optional)

Tools:
• scissors or craft knife
• metal ruler
• cutting mat (for use with the craft knife)
• bone scorer or bone folder
• hole punch (1/8” if using brads; 1/16” if using ribbon)
• ribbon threading needle if using ribbon
