Antique French Grain Measures: Bentwood, Steel & Leather - 19th Century Trio

I am offering for sale this scrumptious trio of French grocery measures found at a farm clearance sale here in the south of France.

Dating from the late 19th early 20th century these would have been real work horses of a local shop or farm. Measuring all forms of dry goods.

Made from bentwood end held together with steel bands these have taken on a really rich patina. The largest has a delightful leather band around the base as a well made repair. Each one bears the legal stamps guaranteeing there size.

These can be used for utensil storage or as a desk tidy etc.

A great addition to a French country kitchen or the start of a new collection. Why not treat yourself or spoil that special friend with a super surprise gift!

Dimensions approx -
Largest (Demi Decalitre) -
Width base - 7 5/8" or 19.5 cms.
Height - 7 1/2" or 19 cms.
Weight - 1.22 Lbs or 552 grms.
Mid size (Double Litre) -
Width base - 5 3/4" or 14.5 cms.
Height - 6 1/8" or 16 cms.
Weight - 0.734 Lbs or 333 grms.
Smaller size (Demi Litre) -
Width base - 3 5/8" or 9.3 cms.
Weight - 0.3 Lbs or 136 grms.

Condition -
Signs of age and use. The largest does not sit 100% flat and the top is not completely round but apart from this it is very usable. Mid size measure has splits to the wood on the outside and there is a section of peeling wood on the inside. The lower steel band is corroded and is flaky. I would fix this with a coat of matt varnish. Still usable. The baby of the bunch has obviously been used as a pen holder as the base has taken on a multi colored finish. It is good and solid and will outlive you and me! Please look at all photographs.
