Engraving Tips:
For slate engraving, use recommended settings with a Glowforge: automatic focus height, speed between 800 and 1000 mm/min, power between 20% and 40%, and LPI starting at 225 for fine details. Convert the image to negative for slate coasters.

Wood Engraving Settings:
Recommended Glowforge settings: speed 1000, power 90, grayscale with varying power, max quality, and 270 LPI. Perform test engravings to fine-tune settings based on material and design complexity.

For slate engraving using the XTool F1, you'll want to start with these basic settings as a foundation:

Power: 80-100%
Speed: 200-300 mm/s
Frequency: 20-30 kHz
Passes: 1-2
Focus: Ensure the laser is properly focused on the slate surface.
These settings can vary based on the specific type of slate and desired effect, so it's a good idea to do a test engraving first. Adjust power and speed as needed to achieve the best results. Always keep safety in mind and use appropriate eye protection!

Additional Notes:
For CO2 lasers, a short focal length (38.1mm) is crucial for optimal engraving on slate. Experimentation and testing are essential for achieving the best results with variations in material and thickness.
