Contact me at the time of order. I love packaging orders and do not charge for wrapping. Some large items are not as easy to package attractively.

Where do you obtain your items?

We source all of our items here in rural New Hampshire, along with some that we've owned and found in Virginia and New Jersey, where we lived previously.

Most are vintage (pre-owned). Most will show some signs of use and wear. I try hard to be complete in my descriptions and fully disclose any known flaws.

What if I have a question about an item?

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about condition, quantity, or size before purchasing an item. Please convo me.

I can't see the whole item. Can you provide more pictures?

Etsy gives us room for 10 photos, and I usually use all of them. If you need more for some reason, please feel free to contact me.

This stunning vintage women's black velvet suit, size small, consisting of a silk-lined jacket and skirt, was custom tailor made in the 1970s. The jacket features three black ribbed plastic buttons in a whirligig pattern.

Jacket measurements, lying flat:
Shoulder to shoulder - 14 inches
Shoulder to bottom of jacket - 20 inches
Sleeve length - 23 inches
Underarm to underarm - 18 inches (up to 36 inch bust).

Skirt measurements, lying flat:
Length - 26 inches
Waist - 12 inches (24-inch waist)

The skirt has a side zipper with both a button and hook and eye closures. There’s a kick pleat in back and two silk loops inside for hanging. It has a generous hem of 3 inches.

Both the skirt and jacket are lined in black silk and are in very good used condition with no rips or stains and only a small, nearly imperceptible fray along the jacket edge by one of the buttons.

A note about the provenance: I obtained this suit, along with other clothing, from the estate of a woman who taught philosophy at Hunter College in NYC and traveled the world lecturing with her husband, also a philosopher. She had most of her clothes tailor-made in Europe, primarily Italy and Spain.
