A book binder’s dream come true! High quality, SHORT GRAIN signature paper is finally available!

We have searched far and wide to find the perfect paper for all of your book binding needs. We tested hundreds of papers to find this gem. In our studio, we cut this high-end paper down to 8.5x11 inches (or 9x12”) for printing manuscripts with your home printer. It can also be used for binding your own journals or sketchbooks.

Why do we cut it ourselves? As many book binders have discovered, paper manufacturers do not make 8.5x11 inch paper with a short grain. So, we cut large sheets of long grain paper into short grain paper in a size that is perfect for books and home printers.

This luxurious paper has an incredible look and feel due to its elegant LINEN finish, that is patterned after fine linen fabric. This creates a subtle yet elegant texture on both sides of the paper.

The paper weight of 32lb text/80 bond (118 gsm) is great for double-sided printing because there is minimal show through of text from one side to the other. This paper is a dream to bind into books, because it is easy to fold, punch, and sew. This paper is thicker than typical copy (printer) paper but thinner than card stock.

After folding, our 8.5x11” paper results in 8.5x5.5” signatures, while our 9x12” paper creates 9x6” signatures.

How many sheets do you need? Assuming you print double sided and fold the sheets, you will be able to print 4 pages of your manuscript on each sheet of our paper. So, if your manuscript is 200 pages long (with all title pages and fly sheets), you’ll need 50 sheets of our paper. Still unsure? Send us a message and we’ll help you out.
