10K Gold Pendant NECKLACE with Genuine Crispus Follis Ancient Roman COIN 320 AD

A 10k pendant necklace containing a genuine Crispus Follis ancient Roman coin from circa 320 AD. The yellow gold pendant setting is modern, and dates to approximately 1970s. The pendant completely encloses the bronze coin and measures 15/16" across. That measurement does not include the bale loop. It is stamped 10K inside the bale and it has a 10K yellow gold 16-1/2" length quality flat link chain with a spring-ring clasp. The chain was made by Uno A Erre of Italy and it is 10K. The chain weighs 3.8 grams and the pendant 7.3 grams.

The ancient Roman bronze coin (known as a follis) is in very good condition, but has some expected visible wear. There is a line in the coin at the edge upper right of the head to edge, possibly from a break in the coin mold. However this doesn't detract from the appeal of this coin. It otherwise has lovely detail, and appears to be a well well-centered strike (as far as can be noted, as the pendant encloses the edge of the follis).

It depicts Flavius Julius Crispus, usually referred to as Crispus (317-324 AD), a Caesar of the Roman Empire under Constantine I or Constantine the Great. He was the first-born son of Constantine I and Minervina, but was tried and executed on orders from his father. The accepted historical reason for this is that he was set up by Faustina, his father's second wife, to allow her sons to be first in line for succession.

The obverse side (with head) says IVL CRISPVS NOB C (for Julius Crispus Nobillissmus Caesar). The reverse says CAESARVM NOSTRORVM, (which translates from Latin as Our Caesars) around a laurel wreath with VOT and X.

This necklace is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs.

Jewelry is vintage or antique and will have signs of use as expected.
