What do I need to know about copyright and terms of use?

All items designed by MyDigitalDaydream and sold in MyDigitalDaydream are copyrighted by MyDigitalDaydream and are for personal use only.

What file formats are your downloads in?

You are purchasing a file, either in a .jpg or a .png or a .pdf format, for printing or utilizing in your photo editing software as desired, for personal use only. Each listing will specify the format provided for that item. Multi-file products will be in a .zip format for easier download. (See .zip FAQ) Please note: The PDF files are read-only with NO fillable form fields unless the individual item listing states otherwise. If the format you desire is not listed in the description, please ask and usually I can provide those for you. All files are 300 dpi, (2500 x 3300 pixels for 8.5 x 11's and 3600 x 3600 pixels for 12 x 12's). They can be printed as many times as you desire on the paper type of your choice.

Many of the items are in a .zip format for download. This allows multiple files to be packaged together so they don't have to be downloaded one at a time. Once the .zip file is downloaded and saved to your computer, it must be "unzipped" to access the individual files therein. Most computers today come installed with the software to accommodate this and double-clicking on the zip file will start the "unzip" or extraction process. If your computer does not have such software, you can download by searching zip/unzip software on the Internet.

Which file format should I download?

When multiple formats are enumerated in the listing, you can choose to download the format you desire. Jpg files will download much faster and if you're just going to print these or they're being used as a full-sized background, that's likely the format you want. .Png files are much larger in size and so take longer to download, but if you are going to be utilizing these in photo editing software, this is the format you want. In .png files, there is a transparent background around the image, so you can layer it over any background you wish in your photo editing software, most of which will open and work with .png files. The .pdf files are read only and cannot be edited unless the item description specifically states otherwise.

What type of paper should I print on?

The paper you print on does make a big difference in the quality of your print. A low quality, low brightness copy paper will generally give you a poor print if you're printing colored images. The best is a double-sided photo-quality matte finish paper of at least 58 lb. weight. It works much better than general scrapbooking cardstock in terms of the color and sharpness of the images. Staples carries a house brand called Double-Sided Matte Photo Supreme that is very good. However, when you need a lighter weight paper for decoupage, for instance, look for something that is specified as at least 90 brightness or super-bright white, 98 or 100. Presentation paper will generally give you a better quality than photocopy paper.

I realized recently that I had emassed quite a nice little collection of Victorian wedding certificates from the late 1800s and early 1900s, either in wedding memory books or matted versions. The majority of them were actually used and had names and dates penned in from some couple's wedding long, long ago. So I set about removing the writing and restoring them to their original blank condition.

This particular certificate is done in a trompe l'oeil style, which means deceiving to the eye, and it can be! It’s a painting of a certificate with a seal on a plain cream background which is actually the certificate, the entire painting. It has deceived at least one buyer into thinking what they were purchasing was just the actual painted certificate, no seal and background, so I wanted to make that clear! :)

This would make a great addition to your DIY wedding, printed and filled in on your wedding day to then frame or add to your wedding album. I've given these as shower gifts and they're always a big hit!
